Arlington’s New Driverless Shuttle is Ready to Transport Passengers to Cowboys Games.

Arlington is the first city to officially endorse driverless transportation.   In exactly two weeks the shuttle named ‘Milo’ will be able to transport passengers to major events in Arlington’s entertainment district.  The shuttle can carry up to 12 passengers and cruises about 15 mph.  and the route is pre-programmed.  Milo will be ready on August 26, when the Dallas Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders. Two shuttles will transport fans for free to and from the parking lot.

“It’s very good at sensing its environment and knowing where it’s in space so that it doesn’t deviate from its course,” said Lyndsay Mitchell, with the city of Arlington.

The technology goes live August 26, when the Dallas Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders.

The city of Arlington is leasing the vehicles for $270,000.   “It will go down in history as the first time that a government, a municipal government, has really offered this as a service to the general public” said John Dugan, with the city’s planning department.

The shuttle is free, wheelchair accessible and can hold up to 12 passengers.
