Big news if you’re a NASCAR Fan, Kevin Harvick’s #4 Ford was found in post race inspection after Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. The violation was from an improper spoiler on the rear of the car. As a result, Harvick was docked 40 points in the standings and his win at Texas no longer locks him into the championship finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Plus his Crew Chief Rodney Childers and Car Chief Robert “Cheddar” Smith are suspended for the rest of the year.
As a result of the 40 point penalty, Harvick is now in 4th place, just three points above the cutline as the Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Phoenix this week. Harvick won the Phoenix race in March.
Sunday’s 2nd place driver Ryan Blaney and 4th place finisher Erik Jones were also docked 20 points each for serious penalties coming out of Texas Motor Speedway. Neither of those two drivers are still involved in the playoff chase.
