Hello,
My name is Jessica Williams
I have a story to tell... please just take a little time out of your busy day to read this...
My father has 4 children from two women. I am the oldest (20) and my brother is almost 17. Our mom was pretty much not there for us, especially financially our whole lives. Then theres our younger sisters. When my dad met his next wife, she was already pregnant with my step sister who's 13. My dad adopted her and then they had another a few years later, she will be 11 this year. Not too awful long after the youngest was born, they started their divorce, which lasted way longer than expected and my dad had to fight for the both of them. After the divorce was final my dad had custody of the girls. This is when mom number two split the scene. Our dad raised us on his own with a small paint company he's owned since 91. Neither of our moms ever paid child support like they were supposed to. We didnt have the best clothes or the best school supplies, but he made good and sure we had what we needed. He kept a roof over our heads in the lowest of times. Sister (13) had bad asthma as a baby, and though it's somewhat better now, she still has to recieve medication. My dad climbs ladders, remodels houses, and paints for a living, all while having a major hernia on his stomach from being smashed by a truck years ago. He could never afford to get it fixed and feared that if he did he would be out of work and us kids would go without. He also recently found out he has a blood disease which could cause him a heart attack or stroke from lack of oxygen to the heart and brain. He was supposed to return to the doctor for more blood work but couldnt afford that either. He is now out of work and money. This Christmas my husband and I visited my dad. The church donated presents for the other children in my family because my dad couldnt afford Christmas. This man has all the pride in the world and refuses to ask for help from anyone. Now it's too late. My dad lives in a 4-bedroom double-wide on two acres that is now forclosed. He and the three kids have to be out by February. My dad started a second business a couple of years ago that never really took off. He started duck dog connection, four 6'x6' kennels on the side of his garage where he trains labrador retrievers to be hunt test champions. I know he loves the dogs he has, but now he'll have to sell them... Sell them and leave everything he has behind. My father deserves so much, and if I could give back just half of what he's given us kids, he would be a very wealthy man. If I owned the world I would give it to my daddy. Unfortunately, I cant even find a job or afford a car, and my husband is in the army... which isnt "great" pay. My dad is the strongest man Ive ever known. You know it's funny, you always hear about the struggling single mom with the horrible drunk ex-husband, but you seldom ever hear about the hero dad who saved his kids from the trash lifestyle their moms ran to. I'm not asking anything of anyone, I don't want anyones opinion, I wrote this to make people take a second to think about the little guy... The one who gives his all until he has nothing more to give. My dad is only 40 years old, he'll never have a 401K, he'll never be able to retire, he'll literally work himself to death. I said I wasnt going to ask anything of anyone, but Ive changed my mind. I'd like to ask anyone who reads this for a prayer. Please pray for my dad, I know God hears all, but maybe if we have more voices we can fill his ear.
P.S. I sent in an application to that extreme makeover home edition show last year because I wanted to give something back to my dad... But I didnt hear anything so I figure theres a lot more people out there who need prayers too, don't forget about them aswell!
Thank you for your time
