Today in country music history:

2006 - Kellie Pickler attended her first hockey game in Nashville as the Predators shut out the Boston Bruins, 5-0.

2001 - Neal McCoy performed for troops in Afghanistan as part of the USO's Deliver America tour.

1984 - Gary Morris' two-and-a-half month run in a New York production of the opera La Boheme came to a close.

1962 - Brenda Lee was slightly injured when her Nashville home was destroyed in a fire. Twenty-five thousand dollars worth of clothes were lost along with her beloved poodle, Cee Cee.

1950 - Lefty Frizzell made his first Grand Ole Opry appearance, singing "If You've Got the Money, I've Got the Time."

1944 - Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and caused a stir with their drum set in the band. Drums were previously not allowed on the Opry stage.
