Since I work at night, my wife usually gets up in the morning well before me. This morning, not only did she wake me up waaay too early, but she had some great news. “The air conditioner’s not working; and, when I went into the garage to check the circuit breaker I saw you have a flat tire…”
Immediately got on the phone and got someone to come look at the AC (although the earliest he could make it would be late afternoon), then called AAA for the tire.
Got the car to my favorite garage (I needed an oil change anyway) and got the tire patched (there was a big sliver of WOOD that I must’ve run over just perfectly for it to puncture my tire.
Got home just as the AC guy got there (great!). After doing a bunch of diagnostic tests and looking at things, he found the problem (great!). Only thing was he didn’t have the replacement part (not so great!); and would have to come back tomorrow (also, not so great!).
I’ll let you know how that works out. In the meantime, my poor wife Sharon found some old fans, and combined with the ceiling fan in our bedroom, will try and keep comfortable tonight (while I “work” in my comfortable 68-degree studio).
She’s being an incredible good sport about all of this. She even pointed out that if the air conditioner hadn’t konked out, I might not have discovered my flat tire until it was time to leave for work. It’s one of the things I love about her, her ability to see the good in most things.
