Getting Your Kiddo Ready To Head Off To College

Its time to pack up your college kiddos up and send them off for their higher learning adventure.

Grown and Flown has great packing ideas!

A friend of our’s shared this post on Facebook and we thought it was a great idea to be prepared in the event they have to quarantine themselves.

“Friends with college aged children…not a bad idea!
Borrowed from the University of Michigan parents’ page:
“In these uncertain times, the possibility exists that your child may test positive and have to leave her or his dorm for a quarantine location. It’s probably a VERY GOOD idea to have a pre-packed Quarantine Bag in their closet. It would be so much easier to ask a roommate to grab “The blue Nike bag in my closet and my laptop” than to try to figure out what he or she will want for two weeks.”
COVID QUARANTINE BAG – POSSIBLE CONTENTS:
-Extra cell phone charger cord & battery pack
-List of important people’s phone numbers written out
-A list of health issues & allergies
-Prescription meds
-Two or more complete changes of comfy clothes: sweatpants, PJ pants, T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
-Fuzzy socks
-Fleece throw (I took the tiniest one in the house and squished it into an XL Baggie, that forced the extra air out.)
-Cough Drops
-Tylenol aka acetaminophen (full bottles) to bring fever down & help with aches
-Vicks VapoRub or similar
-Mucinex DM, Robitussin Cough & Chest Congestion or similar
-Thermometer
-Eye glasses in case & empty contact case (if needed)
-Antiseptic hand sanitizer
-Liquid hand soap
-Body lotion, feminine hygiene (for daughters), toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, comb, razor, hair ties, etc.
-Tissues
-Snacks
-A few masks
-A stuffed animal
-Some sort of distraction: book, coloring book & crayons, a deck of cards, etc”

Perhaps Liz can provide some packing inspiration for your student that has WAY too much to pack!
