Kurt Busch’s Win Sunday Shakes Up NASCAR’s Playoffs

Kurt Busch returned to his hometown track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and earned his first victory of the season and his first win ever in Vegas after 21 tries.  After some fortunate late race track position his Monster Energy Chevy held on to edge out Matt DiBenedetto and Denny Hamlin.  As a result, Busch goes from last in the playoff standings to the top of the leaderboard and automatically advances into the next playoff round.  This has big effects for drivers on the playoff bubble like Kurt Busch’s brother, Kyle, who is now 9 points below the cut line. This weekend NASCAR’s Cup Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway where anything can happen.   See the current standings here:
