Early voting for the March 3 Primary is underway. Lots of important races are on the ballot.
The early voting period will run from now till Feb. 27th. The winners of each race will advance to the general election in November. If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, the top two vote-getters will be on the ballot again for the runoff election on June 6.
The primary ballot will include races for several consequential statewide seats, including races for the governor, attorney general, lieutenant governor, a senate seat and more. Several congressional and local positions are also on the ballot.
Texas has open primaries, meaning you do not have to be registered with a particular party to cast your ballot. However, whichever party’s primary you cast a vote in this March, you will have to vote in the same primary for the runoff election in June.
