Dolly Parton, The Queen of Country, Dies at Age 80

Dolly Parton, the Country Music Hall of Famer, who’s career spanned almost 60 years, has died in Nashville today (Tuesday) at the age of 80.    Dolly released dozens of albums, sold more than 100 million records and had 44 career Top 10 country singles.  She also wrote more than 3000 songs, including the iconic “I Will Always Love You” among others.  Dolly was also an actress in movies like “9 To 5”, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” and “Steel Magnolias.  As an entrepenuer she owned the Dollywood theme park and other venues.  Dolly won 11 Grammy Awards, 19 CMA Awards and was long time member of the Grand Ole Opry.  Dolly’s family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a non profit organization that mails high quality books to children.  (photo courtesy of Getty Images)
