I’m not against change, but sometimes change may not be a good thing.

Sesame Street is being changed to make it more modern for today’s tech-savy kids.  And that includes letting go Bob the music teacher, Gordon the science teacher and Luis the “Mr. Fix-It,” played by Bob McGrath, Roscoe Orman and Emilio Delgado respectively.

McGrath, 84, had been with Sesame Street since it went on the air in 1969.

I’m not saying the show can’t evolve, but couldn’t the producers have allowed these cast members to stay until they could leave on their own terms?

To us, and for millions of people worldwide, they are a treasured part of Sesame Street. Since the show began, we are constantly evolving our content and curriculum, and hence, our characters, to meet the educational needs of children. As a result of this, our cast has changed over the years, though you can still expect to see many of them in upcoming productions. As we’ve stated previously, Sesame Workshop retains sole creative control over the show. HBO does not oversee the production.
