People Magazine reports a story that last Tuesday, William Odom, 2 years-old went missing, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the neighborhood, and family began searching. He was found sleeping in a truck, a quarter-mile from his home, just a few hours after the search started and he wasn’t alone, the family dog, Jezebel, was with him.
“Every time we found his footprint, we found the [family] dog footprint right beside him. So the dog traveled with him all day,” Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said. Authorities ruled out foul play; instead the toddler wandered off on his own, apparently the dog followed him and kept him safe until rescued.
“It’s an amazing story. We’re very thankful that he is in good health. And we brought him home to his family,” Peterson added.
“Ever since she was a puppy, they’ve been really close,” William’s mother, Chelsea Noble, said of her son and his dog, according to People.
