Bob Dylan returned to the Farm Aid stage on Saturday night (September 20) – held in Minnesota for the very first time at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis – to mark the fundraising event’s 40th anniversary. Dylan delivered a masterful five-song set featuring exclusively 1960s classics like “All Along the Watchtower,” “Highway 61 Revisited,” and “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” Despite performing under dim lighting with limited closeups, Dylan agreed to have his performance projected on screens and livestreamed, rare concessions for the elusive artist who was also making his return to the University of Minnesota campus, where he briefly went to school back in 1959. Unlike his previous Farm Aid appearances in 1985 and 2023, Dylan skipped “Maggie’s Farm,” which was covered by Margo Price earlier in the day-long event. The star-studded lineup also included Billy Strings, Kenny Chesney, Steve Earle, Wynonna Judd, and John Mellencamp, as well as Neil Young, who delivered a politically charged set following Dylan’s performance, and Willie Nelson, who closed the show with an inspiring, hopeful set.
