Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis’s new single, “Ain’t a Bad Life,” emerged from a 2022 songwriting retreat during which Rhett and a variety of collaborators reflected on contentment and life’s true value beyond money and success. Inspired by Rhett’s own early struggles and a James Taylor-like chord progression, the song evolved into a celebration of balance, spirituality, and family, with producer Mark Trussell refining its sound to evoke a classic, Rod Stewart rock vibe. Initially intended as a solo track, Rhett chose Davis for the duet after the musicians bonded on a hunting trip, with the track included on the deluxe edition of Thomas’ 2024 album, About a Woman. Released in September 2025, “Ain’t a Bad Life” serves as a refreshing, uplifting follow-up to Rhett’s previous single, “After All the Bars Are Closed,” and currently sits at No. 28 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. “I just kind of felt like ‘Ain’t a Bad Life’ with Jordan was just a nice palate cleanser,” Rhett says, “going into whatever comes next.” (Billboard)
